Our “Change” Workshop Programme

We have created a series of workshops that we deliver in prisons and the community that help to identify, encourage and create the change that drives our candidates towards the meaningful employment that sits at the heart of our mission.

Our 5 Core Workshops

Our workshops are designed to encourage candidates to tell their stories which will in turn lead to their future.

Candidates ideally follow the linear journey of progression with each workshop building on the preceding session but we realise that it is not always possible to follow the perfect path. Every  workshop can therefore work as a stand-alone session with candidates having the ability to roll on and roll off both in prison and in the community.

Sessions are introduced and lead by a facilitator with candidates then working 1-2-1 with a mentor to fulfil their tasks.

1 Kangaroo:
is our first engagement and is a one off assessment session to evaluate where people are on their journey towards employment, identifying skills and areas for development.

2 Boost Your Profile: A workshop blending individual introspection, collaborative group activities, and stimulating group discussions. Candidates are assisted in identifying their personal strengths and transferable skills, passions and abilities that potential employers are seeking which will help when writing their CVs and in interviews.

3 CV writing: A workshop dedicated to creating an impactful CV that showcases the candidate in the best possible light for their ideal job.

4 Interview Skills/practice: An interactive session to hone interview skills and give live feedback with either CIPD, an employer or someone similar.

5 Employer sessions/insights: We regularly take employers into the prisons to engage directly with potential candidates enabling them to showcase their industry, the job roles on offer and the criteria. This includes our own Social Enterprise NGB CLEAN and other employers in the cleaning and facilities management industry with whom we have strong relationships.

The role of volunteers in Workshops

Our workshop delivery relies heavily on the input from our army of volunteers whose time is greatly appreciated. Volunteers will attend the sessions in prison or community settings and work 1-2-1 with the candidates to facilitate the learnings from the tutor, turning their stories into tangible outputs including CVs, cover letters etc.

A volunteer briefing is held at the beginning of each session and no previous experience is necessary. It is a rewarding experience and enables a wider audience to join us and become an architect of change.
